EDUCATION PROGRAM

The UNESCO World Heritage Education Program gives young people a chance to voice their concerns and to become involved in the protection of our common cultural and natural heritage. It seeks to encourage and enable tomorrow’s decision-makers to participate in heritage conservation and to respond to the continuing threats facing our World Heritage.

Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. As a World Heritage Site, Angkor is protected by UNESCO, and they have set up a wide-ranging program to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings. Check out their wealth of resources.

CAMBODIAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL LIDAR INITIATIVE (CALI)

LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is the remote sensing technology that's given archaeologists a massive leg up on their research in and around Angkor, and it is featured in Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia. Learn more about the advances LiDAR is making in Cambodia and around the world.

VOLUNTEERS INITIATIVE

Within the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Education Program, the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Initiative was launched to mobilize and involve young people and youth organizations in World Heritage preservation and promotion.
